Summary:A remote control device comprises a control unit 102 that is seated in a cavity 106 of a holder 104 and is recessed relative to the surface of the holder. The holder further defines an access feature 116 in its surface that facilitates removal of the control unit. Upon insertion, corresponding retention members 146 extending lengthwise on both the control unit and holder are aligned with each other and are pushed into engagement. If the holder is placed face-down on a support surface, the control unit is spaced apart from the support surface. The control unit is inserted into one of a plurality of holders, which can be supported by (without being attached to) different support surfaces. The access feature may be a recessed area extending at least partially around the control unit and may include a notch 126, which may be positioned in the recessed area. The control unit may include an engagement feature 136 arranged along an outer portion of a user interface and is aligned with the notch to facilitate control unit removal. The retention members 146 may include ribs or grooves 152,154. The holder may include a removable wall mount (figure 17).
