A fan assembly comprising: a body comprising an air inlet 22, an air outlet 74, and means 92 for generating an air flow through the body, the body comprising a lower body section 52 and an upper body section 50, the upper body section housing the means for generating the air flow and the lower body section housing a control circuit 62 for controlling the means for generating the air flow; and a nozzle (fig. 1; 16) for receiving the air flow from the body and for emitting the air flow, wherein the lower body section comprises an outer wall 53 and an inner wall 55, the outer wall and inner wall defining an outer cavity 57 surrounding an inner cavity 59, and wherein the control circuit is located within the inner cavity surrounded by the inner wall. The inner cavity may be provided with drainage holes 41 on an inclined floor 43.
