Apparatus 2 for use when making a beverage from a bag 4 containing abeverage concentrate comprises holder means 6 for holding the bag 4 and a handle 8 for enabling the holder means to be dipped into water in at least one beverage container 10. The holder means releasably holds the bag such that the bag is able to be held for dipping into the water, and such that the bagis able to be released for disposal when the bag is no longer required for use. The holder means is a clamp holder means comprising first and second jaws 12, 14 which move towards each other to hold the bag, and which move away from each other to release the bag with a sliding action. Each of the first and second jaws has apertures 16. The first and second jaws extend to one side of the handle and are concave jaws which both face in the same direction. The first and second jaws are spring biased towards each other for retaining the bag when the holder means is being dipped intothe water.
