Summary:Provided is a novel positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, with which output characteristics of a lithium secondary battery using the positive electrode active material operating at a charging voltage in a range exceeding 4.3 V can be further improved. This positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery includes positive electrode active material particles in which an A layer including C and at least one from among Ti, Al, and Zr is provided to the whole or portions of surfaces of lithium/manganese-containing composite oxide particles (also referred to as "core particles") which operate at a charging voltage in a range exceeding 4.3 V using metallic Li as a reference potential.
