The lid is die cut and preferably include aluminium, a polypropylene and/or a polyethylene terephthalate layers. There can be multiple discontinuous indentations, a single continuous indentation or concentric indentations. The data region within the indentations is ideally planar and includes include a barcode, a date code or a best before date. The indentations can be V or U shaped. The lid could be sealed to the top of a coffee capsule or other food container.
