Summary: | The composite panel comprises (in order): an optional gel coat 2; a fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) layer 4; an engineered timber product layer 6; a sheet 8 having a plurality of apertures therein; at least one elongate reinforcing element 10, at least partially received within; another FRP layer 12, that also at least partially receives; another engineered timber product layer 20; and optionally another fibre reinforced plastic layer 22. Preferably, the sheet 8 is a metal mesh, the fibrous reinforcements are glass fibres, the reinforcing elements 10 are spaced apart wooden battens and the engineered timber product 6, 20 is oriented strand board or plywood. Preferably the FRP 12 forms a crown 12 comprising side walls 14 and cap 16 over each batten 10. The method of forming the composite panel is also claimed. Preferably the at least partially liquid FRP 12 flows into a plurality of manufactured imperfections. The panel provides housing for tanks, water pumps and switchgear. |
