Summary:A blackout blind for use with a roller blind 80 comprising a planar blackout barrier or screen 10, an arm 20 for hooking onto a roll 110 of a roller blind, preferably a hook, and a structural support rigidly connected to the arm and supporting the barrier and hangs vertically when in use. Preferably weights are located at the bottom of the barrier, possibly moveable within in a hollow sleeve and extending the entire way across the barrier. A hook and loop fastener may be provided, one of the hook or loop at the bottom of the barrier, the other on a higher portion such that the length or drop of the barrier can be adjusted to fit different sized windows. The blackout blind temporarily supplements pre-existing window coverings 80 to reduce the amount of light passing around the sides 90, for instance for the benefit of young children who require sleep during the day.
