Summary:A vent valve for a buoyancy compensation device suitable for divers, where the valve may be opened by any combination of over-pressure, manual pressure relief or a powered means, where a force to a valve plug is applied by means of a spring that is constrained to prevent entirely lateral and angular movement but in which movement of the plug in the axis of the seat is unconstrained. The valve comprises a valve plug 29 that open and closes a valve seat 30, a spring 5 to bias the valve plug towards the valve seat, a piston 27 for powered opening of the valve seat, a manual pull dump 33 for manual opening of the valve seat, spring constraining means 8 and centering means 9 that prevent the valve plug moving angularly or laterally with respect to the valve seat.
