Dipole antenna array including at least one co-planar sub-array
A dipole antenna array includes at least one dipole antenna sub-array 12, wherein the sub-array 12 includes a plurality of co-planar antenna units each including a pair of dipole radiating elements (14a, 14b) and a balun 16 having an output line (16c, 16d) to the dipole radiating elements (14a, 14b)...

Summary: | A dipole antenna array includes at least one dipole antenna sub-array 12, wherein the sub-array 12 includes a plurality of co-planar antenna units each including a pair of dipole radiating elements (14a, 14b) and a balun 16 having an output line (16c, 16d) to the dipole radiating elements (14a, 14b). A linearly polarised antenna array may include sub-arrays (36, fig 3) extending through parallel slots, apertures or slits (34, fig 3) formed in a ground plane 32. A dual polarised antenna array may include sub-arrays (13 and 15, fig 1b) conjoined orthogonally or perpendicularly through slots on a ground plane 17. The dipole antenna array may be in the form of a microwave laminated printed circuit board and the radiating elements (14a, 14b) may be of a bow tie arrangement. The balun 16 may include a slotline and the output line may be a microstrip or stripline. |
