Summary:A first aircraft 10 obtains real-time flight data as it travels along a flight path and directly relays at least a portion of this data to a second aircraft 30 flying at least a portion of the flight path. The data may be obtained during a phase of the flight path (e.g. take-off, climb, cruise, descent, landing or taxiing). It may include weather data (e.g. relating to icing, turbulence or real winds aloft) and may have an expiration time of less than 8 hours. The data may be processed before being relayed to determine its suitability e.g. based on time or geography. It may further be relayed to a ground station 42, where it may be aggregated and transmitted to another aircraft 44 or stored in a system 40 that is accessible by other airlines.
