Summary:A system for replacement of the proximal end of a radial bone, with a prosthesis having a floating articular member. The prosthesis 50 includes a head portion 52 connected or connectable to a stem portion 84, the head portion 52 having an articulation member 54 which floats relative to the stem portion. The head portion/articular member 65 may float transversely and/or rotationally with respect to the stem portion. The head 52 may provide the bearing surface 68 for the humeral bone and also a side surface 72 for articulating with the ulnar bone. The head 52 may form a cup 76 into which is inserted a dish 54 or plate and a retainer 110 to enable the plate to move. The ulnar articulation surface may be fixed relative to the stem, the mobile bearing (fig 17) or neither (fig 18A).
