Summary:A feminine care absorbent article comprises an absorbent structure 321 that is configured for disposition adjacent a female wearer's vaginal region to absorb bodily discharged fluids. A shell 314 supports the absorbent structure 321 at the vaginal region and has an adhesive 344 on its body-facing surface for adhering the shell 314 directly to the wearer's body. At least a portion of the body facing surface is free from adhesive for maintaining at least some of the breathability of the shell 314. Preferably the adhesive 344 is breathable, has a non-uniform pattern or a non-uniform adhesive strength across the shell 314. Other disclosed absorbent articles comprise: a body facing surface with an adhesive with a pattern and a visual cue associated with the adhesive; a body facing adhesive with a non-uniform adhesive pattern; an adhesive applied to first and second areas of the body facing surface to provide first and second adhesive strengths; and a body facing surface with a first region having a first adhesive formulation and a second region having a second, different adhesive formulation.
