Summary: | An apparatus and method for representing a three-dimensional (3D) sound field, based on a velocity vector of an acoustic particle is disclosed. A transfer function S610, based on a velocity vector of an acoustic particle and a sound source strength of the acoustic particle, is generated. A cost function S620 is generated based on a target velocity vector and a represented velocity vector. A set of loudspeaker input signals S630 are then generated that minimizes the cost function based on the transfer function, which aims to prevent the generation of an excessive output. Generation of the transfer function may comprise generating a transfer function matrix based on the radial component of the velocity vector, evaluated at control points arranged on a control circle or sphere with variable radius with respect to an excitation frequency. |
