Summary:A cuvette for removably retaining a liquid sample in position in analytical apparatus has an elongate body comprising first and second parts 8, 10. The body contains a chamber 40 for holding the sample and the chamber has an internal surface respective parts of which are windows W1, W2 carried on the two body portions. The body portions are moveable away from each other to open the chamber so as to allow access to the sample chamber. Body portion 8 has bosses 14, 16 with magnets 22, 24 which fit into recesses of body portion 10 having corresponding magnets 34, 36 such that the body parts are magnetically held together.  One of the body portions may have a handle to ease insertion/removal of the cuvette from the analytical apparatus.
