Summary: | System for transferring electric energy to a vehicle 81, particularly a track bound vehicle or a bus, comprises an electric conductor arrangement of a plurality of consecutive segments T1-T6 for producing an alternating electromagnetic field for transferring electromagnetic energy to the vehicle 81; an alternating current supply 55 for conducting electric energy to the plurality of segments T1-T6, wherein the segments T1-T6 are electrically connected to the supply in parallel and each segment is coupled to the supply via a switching unit and a constant current source M1-M6; the switching unit allows independent control of the segments and the constant current supply maintains a constant current through the segment T1-T6 while the segment is switched on - independently of the electric power which is transferred to one or more vehicles 81 travelling along the segment T1-T6; and wherein the constant current supply includes at least one inductance and at least one capacitance, the values of which are chosen so that together with the inductance inherent in the segment, the segment can be operated at a resonance frequency and reactive power is essentially zero. |
