Summary:The system comprises receiving video input 404 from a first participant during a communication session such as a video-conference; analysing 408 the gestures, or expressions, in the video input to produce gesture information 412; and, providing the gesture information to another participant in the session 416. The gesture information may include an icon, an audible signal, or text such as "confusion". In addition the gesture information may be provided to the first participant 420, so that they are aware of the non-verbal impression that they are making. The gesture information is intended to help mutual understanding between different cultures during, for example, video-conferencing.
