Summary:An umbilical comprises at least one thermoplastic hose 20. The thermoplastic hose comprises an inner polymeric liner 7, a first reinforcement layer 11, a second reinforcement layer 9 and an external polymeric sheath 10. The first reinforcement layer comprises at least one non-woven layer of high tenacity fibres 12, 13, and the second reinforcement layer comprises at least one interwoven layer of high tenacity fibres. The thermoplastic hose may have an inbound construction, and the fibres may be aramid fibres. The first reinforcement layer may comprise at least two layers which are contrary-winded around the inner polymeric liner. The first reinforcement layer may also be helically wound around the inner polymeric layer.
