Summary: | An automotive transmission 16 transitions from a drive gear to a neutral gear when an engine 12 is shutdown. During a rolling pull-up, a crankshaft 18 of the engine 12 will be spun up to a desired speed and the transmission 16 will transition from the neutral gear to an appropriate gear based on a shift schedule. A target transmission input speed is commanded to be a synchronous speed plus an offset to smoothly transition out of electric axle drive propulsion. The vehicle typically has two electric motors 14, 20, one of which can spin the crankshaft 18 up to speed and the other of which is usable for example in an electric drive mode wherein rear wheels 22, 24 are driven. |
