Summary:An electrochemical gas sensor which is improved in respect of its electrochemical measuring properties and the standard of seal of the housing (4) for an electrolyte at the points where the connecting conductors (11, 21, 31) pass through, and which is characterised by a housing (4) containing at least one measuring electrode (1) and one counter electrode (2) and having electrical connecting conductors (11, 21, 31) from the electrodes (1, 2, 3) to a measuring unit (8), for example a potentiostat, arranged outside the housing (4), at least a portion or portions of the electrical connecting conductors (11, 21, 31) comprising carbon nanotubes (CNT's) in the housing (4) in the region wetted by electrolyte. The nanotubes may be singe-wall or multi-wall carbon nanotubes.
