Summary:A liquid heating vessel comprises an element plate and a thermal actuator. The thermal actuator 10 comprises a thermally responsive component 12, such as bimetal, capable of a snap transformation from a first configuration to a second configuration at an operating temperature, and a mounting portion 14 operable to retain the thermally responsive component 12. The mounting portion 14 is fixed to the element plate 34. A fulcrum may also be provided, about which the bimetal may be tilted by the mounting portion 14.
