Summary:An inertial arresting gear applied to axial rotation in garden implements comprises a working axle 7 used for attachment of the blade, housing 17 and brake means 12, a follower wheel 4 rotatably connected to the housing, wherein the follower wheel is connected to the working axle via a threaded connection (see part 7-4, fig.8) which enables relative rotation between the two, there existing a raised lug (see figs.2 and 3) on the follower wheel, and a limiter unit 5 which is fixed to the working axle 7 and located in a position within the height range of the lug. When the power supply is cut off, the blade and working axle overrun the follower wheel, the relative motion causing the follower wheel to ride up the working axle until it engages the braking means 12. Ideally, a friction pad is attached to a spring biased pin 13 slidably connected to the housing.
