Summary: | A securing assembly comprises a first rotatable member, eg turbine blade mounting disc 20, and a second rotatable member, eg seal plate 30, each with a respective recess 36, 46. The first recess 36 has an engagement formation, eg wall 64. Securing means, eg a pair of half-rings 58A,58B, are located in the recesses 36,46 for securing the first and second rotatable members 20, 30 to each other. Urging formations, eg the chamfered walls 60 of half-ring 58A and the cooperating chamfered wall 62 of seal plate 30, are provided so that centrifugal force urges the securing means 58A,58B into engagement with the engagement formation 64 when the rotatable members 20, 30 rotate at high speed. When not rotating, however, the components have a clearance fit, facilitating assembly and disassembly. The securing means 58 may instead be a pair of half-rings 58A,58B, a pair of split rings or a single ring (76, fig.7) of "keyring" type. |
