Summary: | A riser tensioning system for a floating platform comprises hydro/pneumatic operated piston and cylinder assemblies 17 which are connected between a working deck 11 and a frame 31 for absorbing motion and heave of a riser 15. The frame 31 extends and is connected circumferentially around the riser 15, so that the frame 31 moves axially with the riser 15. Each hydro/pneumatic operated piston and cylinder assembly 17 comprises a chamber 19 which is pressurised with a fluid, so that the fluid dampens the movement of the riser 15. In one embodiment, each hydro/pneumatic operated piston and cylinder assembly 17 is protected by a shroud 35, and the shroud 35 moves in unison with the hydro/pneumatic operated piston and cylinder assembly 17. |
