Summary: | A laboratory apparatus for use in IVF treatment of infertility comprises first ( 10 ) and second cabinets ( 11 ) interconnected by a passageway ( 12 ) and a closure for closing said passageway. The first cabinet has an open front wall ( 13 ) and is arranged to allow air to be circulated within the cabinet ( 10 ). The second cabinet ( 11 ) is substantially sealed to allow the temperature within the cabinet ( 11 ) and the level of at least one gas within the cabinet ( 11 ) to be controlled, and has a transparent front wall ( 20 ) to allow the contents therein to be inspected. The apparatus thus allows oocytes to be fertilised in the first cabinet ( 10 ) and then transferred to the stable controlled environment of the second cabinet ( 11 ) where the subsequent zygotes can be grown in a controlled environment, closely resembling body conditions. |
