Summary:An apparatus comprises a sample entry cabinet 10 connected by a sealable passageway 12 to an observation cabinet 11. The sample entry cabinet 10 has an open front and air circulation means, such as a fan 17. The observation cabinet 11 is substantially sealed, and has a temperature control 22, gas level / composition control 22, and observation means such as a window 20. Two observation cabinets 11 may be connected to the sample entry cabinet 10. The apparatus features air purification means to clean or change the air in parts of the system, such as an air filter 18 and a timed interlock on the passages 12. Sealed glove ports 21 may be provided for hand manipulation of samples. The apparatus may be used for the IVF manipulation of oocytes and sperm in substantially clean air, and other suitable environmental, conditions.
