Summary:The contents of the look-up-table 14 in a predistorter for an RF amplifier 10 are updated by processor 52 in dependence on the strength of the third-order intermodulation (IM3) signal measured in the amplifier output signal by detecting circuit 40,42,44,48. There is no comparison of the input and output signals in the adapting circuit 16. The demodulator and delay circuits required in many adaptive predistortion circuits are not needed. The adaptation is stable and may use gradient search and cubic spline methods.
