Summary:A hand tool machine, such as a hand-held circular saw, having a rotating cutting disk 11, such as a saw blade, rotatably mounted on a carrier 12 with a handle (17, fig.1), wherein the carrier 12 is pivotally mounted on a base plate 16 which has a protective hood 15 connected to it and a through-slot for the cutting disk 11. Apparatus 20 for setting the depth of cut comprises a stop 21 connected to a guide element (35, fig.5) which is situated displaceably in a guide channel 34 in the protective hood 15 and is clamped in the desired position by means of a fixing member 27 projecting from the protective hood 15, and a counterstop 22 on the carrier 12 that interacts with said stop 21. A depth scale (33, fig.4) is mounted along the guide channel 34 on the outside of the protective hood 15.
