Summary: | This invention discloses a process for preparing tantalum powder and/or niobium powder having high specific surface area. The process is carried out by reducing the oxides of tantalum and/or niobium, in which at least one halide selected from the group consisting of halides of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Ce reacts with an alkali metal and the said oxides of tantalum and/or niobium at a sufficiently high temperature. The process of this invention is simple, while the tantalum powder and/or niobium powder obtained has a high specific surface area, high purity, and good fluidity. Therefore, this process is particularly suitable for making capacitors and anodes. |
