Summary:A method for connecting a transverse spar 2 to frame parts 11, 12 of a window or door, in which the transverse spar has a V-shaped end face 13, and the members 2, 11, 12 are provided on those faces to be joined, and initially over part of their thickness, with complementary bevels. The end faces of the parts 2, 11 and 12 are jointly heated and displaced towards each other. Members 11 and 12 may be displaced against one another and simultaneously or in time delayed manner against the spar 2. Also included is an independent claim to a device for carrying out the method, wherein heating of the end faces is effected by a Y-shaped welding mirror, and the two frame parts 11, 12 are moved towards each other and then relative to the transverse spar 2.
