Summary:A folding cellular phone 1 has a status detection unit 20 which detects whether the folding cellular phone 1 is in a folded state or an opened state, and a memory 21 which holds e.g. phone book information about numbers which are likely to initiate incoming calls. If an incoming call is detected when the folding cellular phone is in the folded state, and in a case where information on number originating the incoming call is stored in the memory, a control unit 17 responds to the incoming call if the status detection unit 20 detects that the folding cellular phone has been moved to the opened state. Thus, if the originating call number has been notified to the user with the phone still in the closed state, it may be assumed that opening the phone means the user wishes to take the call. No extra operation such as depression of an off-hook key is necessary. A similar arrangement can be provided in a slide cellular phone with two relatively slidable casing parts.
