Summary:Display apparatus consisting of at least one eye tracker, a processor and a display screen is capable of correcting sight defects, such as nystagmus, where the brain fails to compensate for the normal small movements of the eyes which protect the retina from saturation and exhaustion. Eye trackers (102, 104) follow the position of the eyes (110, 112) as normal small involuntary movements are made. This motion is processed in order to calculate the effective displacement of the image caused by the motion. The image (108) displayed on the screen (106) is moved to compensate for the effective displacement caused by the eye motion. Further processing to take into account the distance from the eye to the screen may be used, as well as providing a dark border around the display which becomes lighter closer to the image (see fig. 5).
