Summary:An electrochemical measuring cell is provided for the detection of hydrocyanic acid in which a stable measurement signal sets in after a short time. The measuring cell comprises a measuring electrode 1 made of sintered gold, a counter-electrode 2, a measuring-cell housing 4 which receives the measuring electrode 1 and the counter-electrode 2 , an electrolyte in the measuring-cell housing 4 that comprises sulphuric acid with an addition of silver sulphate, and a diffusion membrane 5 between the measuring electrode 1 and the substance that is to be detected. The thickness of the measuring electrode is preferably between 100 and 200 micrometres. The cell can also be used for the detection of NO2.
