Summary:A system for remotely enabling a pool table, the system comprising a console 100 located near the table, the console including a payment mechanism and a wireless communication mechanism, a pool table (102, 104 or 106) able to communicate with the console in a wireless fashion and also including a controllable ball release, wherein upon payment being made at the console, the console communicates with the table, which enables the ball release to release balls for play. Preferably, the wireless communication is by radio. Preferably a plurality of tables 102-106 are controlled by a single console and the console itself can be controlled through a remote link. The rate per game can be changed to reflect the day or time of day, etc.
