Summary:An arrangement for monitoring the state of wear of a friction clutch in the driving line of a motor vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine, comprises a wear-detection unit 16b, which responds to speed information supplied by a first tachometer 3b representing the instantaneous input speed of the friction clutch and speed information supplied by a movement sensor 5b, representing the beginning of the vehicle starting-off operation. The unit 16b measures the load on the friction clutch at the time of the starting-off operation, as a predetermined monotonic decreasing function of a value of the first speed information following the beginning of movement at a predetermined time interval or of an average of a plurality of values of the first speed information following each other at predetermined time intervals after the beginning of movement.
