Summary: | Switching off an internal combustion engine, whereby after an ignition switch ZS has been opened, the ignition is maintained for a certain length of time, and a fuel injection process which is running when the ignition switch is opened is not brought to an end until the intended quantity of fuel has been completely injected. The power supply of the ignition device Z and fuel injection system KE is switched on immediately by the main relay HR when the ignition switch ZS is closed. After the ignition switch ZS has been opened, the relay is switched off after a delay which is a function of a parameter X. The parameter X can be related to the crankshaft angle of rotation, the engine speed or the number of combustion failures after the final amount of fuel has been injected. |
