Summary:In a transmission having an automated gear shift, with an actuator 9 for gear selection and an actuator 8 for control of a clutch 2, the failure of a ratio to engage properly, e.g. because of colliding gear tooth fronts of transmission internal gear shift elements, is detected by sensor signals. The control unit then initiates the control of the actuator so that the gear shift is temporarily and at least partially cancelled, and is continued thereafter. The clutch 2 may also be momentarily, partially, reengaged to overcome the blockage.
