Summary:The head drum 10 of a cassette deck is mounted perpendicularly to the base of a cassette deck. An undulation is introduced into the tape path by tape guide means 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, so that the tape 300 is wrapped helically about the head drum 10. Since the head drum 10 is mounted perpendicular to the base of the cassette deck, the cassette deck can be made thinner than if the head drum 10 were mounted in the conventional inclined manner.
