Summary:A stay-hinge assembly suitable for a window has a support track 2 for attachment to a solid support, an arm 3 for attachment to a moveable frame, a slider 4, pivotally attached to the support track 2 and engaging the arm 3, and a strut 7 pivotally attached to the support track 2 and the arm 3, wherein the arm 3 and slider 4 move telescopically relative to each other as the assembly 1 is opened. Such an assembly enables much larger, heavier windows to be carried more safely than was possible with prior art assemblies. The pivot 5 or 8 may be a sliding one with respect to the track 2.
