Summary: | A neural network suitable for use in an associative memory or pattern classifier comprises a plurality of neurons i, j, each comprising a relaxation oscillator emitting a series of pulses, interconnected via weights Wii, Wij, Wjj, Wji, such that the firing (i.e. emission of a pulse) of one neuron delays the firing of others to which it is connected. The network tends to settle into stable firing sequences, each of which can be associated with a predetermined pattern to be recognised (or memory location) by adjustment of the weight values. |
