Summary:An immunochemical label comprises particulate carbon black or metal sols, dye sols, latex, colour indicators, coloured matter contained in liposomes and non-metal sols eg. carbon sol, on which is absorptively immobilised a component which terminates distally from the point of adsorption with an immunologically active ligand or ligand binding molecule. Also described is a test device comprising a sample reservoir 224 and at least one filter 212, 214, in addition to a wicking zone 216 in which is disposed an immobilised substance within at least 1 indicia zone 218, 228. The label may be impregnated in one (212) of the filters.
