Summary:On rotation of a selector knob 201, a faucet can be operated either automatically (Fig 2B) by a solenoid valve 207, 208 driven by an infrared detector, or manually, Fig 3, by a rotary sleeve valve 203, the knob 201 being mounted on the solenoid valve. During manual operation the knob 201 is rotated so as to hold the solenoid valve closed via a spring (209) urged post 210. During automatic operation, the outlet (e) of the sleeve valve 203 is closed.
