Summary:A power system suitable for generating standby a.c. power includes a housing 10 incorporating an engine 30 coupled to an alternator 31. These are resiliently mounted by mounts 45/48 onto a frame 47 which itself is resilient mounted on the housing frame by mounting means 52. The alternator 31 is mounted beneath the engine 30 and can vibrate in sympathy, the drive cover thereof acting as an air duct. The resilient mountings 45/48 and 52, together with the cabinet accoustic attenuators and accoustic lining 70 substantially reduce emitted noise and vibration. Air cooling arrangements are described.
