Summary:A vehicle anti-collision system in which each vehicle is provided with a combined transmitter/receiver module 13 at the rear which automatically transmits an infra-red beam (for example) when the vehicle brakes are actuated, so that a signal may be transmitted to a following vehicle with a similar device. A similar module 12 at the front receives corresponding signals from leading vehicles and transmits warning signals to them. In the latter case the range of the signal may be increased with increase of vehicle speed so as to provide suitably early warning of vehicle proximity.
