Summary: | The invention relates to an optical wavelength multiplexing and/or demultiplexing device and comprises a digital phase grating 1 having at least four steps d, which grating diffracts light of at least three different wavelengths in different central diffraction orders F-1, F0, F+1. This grating is arranged in the radiation path of a first optical fibre (F) and effects branching of the light incident thereon to a number of receiving fibres positioned at points F-1, F0, F+1. Since the grating period g is large in comparison with the light wavelength, manufacture of a phase grating required for such a device is simplified, and the invention also allows light-emitting diodes, in addition to lasers, to be used as light sources. |
