Summary:A device for protecting plants, being a mat made to fit on the soil around the plant consists of an integral piece of material, from the central part of which to one edge is a single slit whose sides overlap without any positively defined hole at the centre of the mat. The overlapping edges of the slit part in use to permit the mat to be placed around the stem of the plant, the material being sufficiently flexible to be distorted around the stem in the notched region of the slit as the parted edges are returned to their overlapped position.
