Summary: | Alkylene oxide polyadducts are prepared by the addition of alkylene oxides to substances containing active hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a polymer containing an aromatic amine side chain comprising structural units of the general formula in which R1 stands for hydrogen or a methyl group, R2 for an alkyl group containing 1-6 carbon atoms, and R3, R4 both stand for hydrogen, an alkyl group corresponding to that of the alkylation agent, or the group -CH2OH and/or their quaternary ammonium salts, and wherein x is any number subject to the effectiveness and availability of the catalyst. The polymer and/or the quaternary ammonium salt may also be used in the form of a complex with boron trifluoride. |
