Tread bands and projections. - A device for p r eventing wheel tyres from slipping comprises a U-shaped plate e, which is fitted to the tyre, and to which is hinged an inflexible lip i capable of swing- ing away from the tyre, but limited in its movement by a stop k. The device is secured on the tyre by a clamp fitting the felloes through chains f, g, one of which is fixed to an adjustable bolt q, and the other to a hook v engaging in a slot in a lever, which is locked against the clamp by the pull in the chain when in the position shown in broken lines. A ring m is provided for pulling the lever away from the clamp.
