The plunger 1, Fig. 2, is connected to a lever having one end linked to the frame at 3 and the other to the piston-rod 5 of an hydraulic cylinder e, Fig. 1. Collars 6 on the rod 5 may be set as shown in dotted lines beneath the rod 5 to be actuated directly by the treadle d. Metal enters the pump chamber at 13, Fig. 3, and a non-return valve 12 is preferably provided to prevent scoring of the ports and gland.
