Summary: | 9591. Gross, O. April 25. Arc lamps.-To guide a pair of converging and abutting carbons forming one electrode, their holders d are connected by forks d , U-pieces, or links to the axles of wheels b which engage four rods a . Pivoted links j connect the axles to a cross-bar or posts attached to a guided weight g. The cross-bar may be either above or below the axles, and, with the links, may be duplicated for balancing. Either the wheels or tne rods are grooved. The rods a form a frame which may be hung on pivots near its upper end. The carbons are clamped in their holders by springs e and nuts f, by a loose clamping piece or grippers, or by screw-actuated pieces within sleeves. According to the Provisional Specification, the single wheels may be replaced by wheeled carriages, and the invention applied to a lamp having two single-carbon electrodes. |
