Clutches.-Relates to clutches of the ball type, and consists in arrangements in which the gripping position of the ball, roller, or block, varies in reference to the pocket, whereby the wear is distributed over the bottom of the pocket. Figs. 1 and 2 show an arrangement in which the shell E against which the rollers jam is eccentric to the disc A in which the pockets are formed. Figs. 3 and 4 show balls, in the pockets in the face of a disc A , adapted to jam against the face of a disc E , which is inclined to the axis of the shaft.
